Team Leader
Emre Keskin conducts molecular ecology and evolutionary genetics research at Ankara University’s Evolutionary Genetics Laboratory and is the OCU Director of AgriGenomics Hub. He holds master’s and doctoral degrees in biotechnology.
His work uses environmental DNA metabarcoding and metagenomics to monitor endemic, invasive and threatened species in extreme ecosystems and to develop genomic biomonitoring tools and ecogenomic indicators.
His source profile lists more than 60 international articles, over 150 presentations, participation in 76 projects and leadership of 17 projects. He is involved in international scientific organisations including IPBES, IUCN, iBOL and BIOSCAN. An eDNA kit developed by the company he founded received an award following assessment by the UK Royal Academy and Newton Fund.
Project areas include AgriGenomics Hub, TR.AQUA, AquaGenomik, LIFEPLAN, sea bass breeding, Candida auris, airborne eDNA, post-fire soil microbiota, pollinator diversity, CRISPR/Cas9 and tardigrade genomes.
