Ayça Yeşilbağ studied Biology at Ankara University and undertook an Erasmus+ internship in a microbiology laboratory in Greece. Her undergraduate research examined germination and dormancy responses of Atriplex sagittata seeds under different light conditions.
She works in genetics, molecular biology, microbiology and biotechnology. Her thesis research has focused on sequencing and de novo analysis of the Atlantic bonito (Sarda sarda) genome.
The genome work aims to provide a reference for understanding adaptation, biological functions and evolutionary relationships and to support population genetics and conservation research.
